In the capital, Bogota, visit the Gold Museum’s immense wealth of artefacts, take the cable car to the top of Monserrate for breathtaking vistas and sample rare, exotic fruits at the famous Paloquemao Market. Known as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’, Medellin beats to the salsa rhythms of a lively cultural scene while the pre-Hispanic town of Pueblito harbours the ruins of a lost city built by the Tayrona people. Away from the cities explore the jungle-fringed coastline, take an expedition into the Amazon and spot some of the 1,850 species of native birds. And once you are done exploring enjoy afternoon siestas in a hammock, shaded by coconut palms, on one of the many hundreds of white-sand beaches!
