Elephant on safari in Botswana
Private Mobile Safari with

Barclay & Stenner

Botswana

Privately guided & full of personality

Each ‘Regal’ Barclay Stenner safari is privately guided by John Barclay and James Stenner themselves who, with a stellar reputation to uphold, go to remarkable lengths to ensure each safari is uniquely extraordinary and exhilarating.

With no set itineraries, each journey falls to their experience, reacting to weather patterns and wildlife movements to follow the action and provide a safari full of surprises and completely at one with nature. This is a rare concept in the modern world with few outfitters having the confidence or expertise to make informed decisions on the ground and react to the conditions of the bush to provide the best safari possible.

The Okavango Delta is a natural paradise, teeming with elephants, lions and wild dogs as well as plenty of prey species and a stunning array of colourful birds and insects. Travelling on foot and by boat you will be immersed in the wilderness, and sleeping under traditional canvas at night you will drift off to the chirrup of frogs and the whoop of hyenas on the still air.

This safari is a unique glimpse into the expeditions of yesteryear with bucket loads of charm and enough spontaneity to give you goosebumps!

5 UNFORGETTABLE DAYS

PLEASE NOTE:

This overview is indicative only. Activities and routings on the ground may change to react to environmental conditions and provide the best experience possible.

DAY 1 | MAUN TO MOREMI

On landing in Maun, you will be escorted to your small plane where you will fly directly to Khwai airstrip where John will be wating for you with the safari car. Settle in to your private camp in the Moremi Game Reserve ready to explore the
mosaic habitat of Africa’s greatest National Park.

Designed from decades of experience, your mobile camp provides the ultimate in luxurious exclusivity whilst allowing for an intimate wildlife experience. Each of the traditional canvas tents have en‐suite flush toilets and showers and are
insect proof. Meals are taken in a central dining tent and are freshly prepared according to your party’s needs. A full crew of exceptional safari staff are there to look after you, whether it is preparing a beautifully laid dinner under the
stars or a piping hot shower upon return from your afternoon’s adventures.

DAY 2 | MOREMI

The Moremi Game Reserve was the first wildlife sanctuary ever created by a resident African tribe, the BaBukakhwe.

Due to the density of the plains game in the open floodplains, the predator counts are uncommonly high and Khwai is
known to have the highest density of leopard anywhere in Botswana. There is also a large wild dog and hyena populaTIon, as well as plenty of elephant, lion, giraffe, zebra, cheetah and a staggering array of birdlife.

Exploring a track with the Khwai river on the one side and riparian bush packed with countless animals on the other side of you ‐ and not knowing which way to look ‐ is a pleasure inducing overload of all one’s senses.

DAY 3 | ISLAND FLY CAMP

Leaving dry land, your party will boat through gentle waterways of the Okavango in a 20‐foot aluminum boat with outboard and roof to a remote unnamed island in the heart of the delta, which will be the base for a night of adventure.

Accommodation will be in 2‐man mosquito tents with a separate safari toilet and safari shower. Meals will be cooked by the camp chef and dining will be outdoors at an exquisite dining table. This region offers a contrasting experience to the vehicle based activities of Moremi and you will explore by boat and on foot, looking behind the scenes so often missed in a vehicle to learn about how the ecosystem works up close, while the hundreds of birds add to the feeling of serenity in one of the Okavango’s least explored areas. You will encounter plenty of wildlife along the way including elephant, hippo and lechwe. You are less likely to see predators except perhaps lion on occasion.

DAY 4 | MOREMI

Departing the island by boat, you will find yourself back where you left the vehicles after a couple of hours. You will be driven to a new campsite in the Moremi Game Reserve where the same camp, that has moved from Khwai, awaits with a warm face towels and a cold gin and tonic. Here, you will explore this different landscape, more permanent delta, marginal floodplains and big game country and wildlife in the area with a safari car. This is James and John’s backyard and is home to elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah, and the rare wild dog, along with exceptional populations of birdlife and raptors. This area has typically more water than where the camp was in Khwai, providing varied topography and opportunities for a swim…

DAY 5 | END OF ITINERARY

Saying goodbye to the crew you fly by private charter aircraft to Maun to connect with your flight home or continue with your onward arrangements.
